​We welcome new members Eddie Dennis and Stan Brooks.  We have purchased from Taverham  Nursery's sale a new Christmas tree to replace the old one that was past its best and was never upright. Lisa Atthowe from Tesco Superstore ,Drayton has said that they will support us during this year  by attending at some normal days and making donations for the Auction and Easter Raffle . It was good to see some photos of Christmas displayed in the store.
Some dates for your diaries . 6th April 2017 Open coffee morning with auction and raffle and cake sale. 20th April 2017 outing to  The  Plough at Marsham.   The day centre will be closed for the summer break on Tuesday 25th July and Thursday 27th July

January 2017 Newsletter

We wish you all a happy New Year.
The cake raffle raised £27 and the other raffles a total of £142.   
We thank all those who donated prizes and purchased tickets and all those who helped to make the Christmas activities so enjoyable.  Taverham Lions paid for the Christmas lunches and the Shloer was donated by a staff member. Several members gave cash donations  for which we are grateful.

The committee meeting on the 12th January will review the Christmas arrangements.  If you have any comments good or bad please let us know.

Sadly  Terry Langham died on the 17th December.  His funeral will be at St Faiths crematorium on Wednesday 11th January at 12.30pm.  

Please note that the NDA hearing aid van will be in the village hall park on Wednesday15th February and Wednesday 12th April

A reminder that if the day centre has to close because of bad weather, or other reason,  you will be informed by a telephone call. If you do not get a phone call the centre will be open and if we provide your transport it will be coming, but it is sometimes late.
If you are unable to attend day care for any reason please leave a message on 01603 865839, preferably before 8.30am.  
If you think you may have an infectious illness please do not attend day care as you may pass your condition on to other vulnerable persons

We welcome Marie Melton who will join us as Supervisory Cook on Tuesday 1st November .
We thank Doris, David and others for their support during Clair's absence. 
We are very grateful to  Taverham Lions  Club for their  generous donation so that members have a free Christmas lunch.
We thank local and other organisations for their contributions to our  Grand Christmas  Raffles. 

Tickets for our raffles will be on sale from the 8th November.

Please note the Day  Centre will close on Thursday 15th December 2016 and open on Tuesday 3rd January 2017

​We welcome  Alice who has started to help us on Thursdays .  We would like some more volunteers on Tuesdays . I have received from Claire a  letter resigning from the day centre because of her ongoing illness. She stated that she had enjoyed her time with us and thanked everyone for their help and for the way she was accepted as a member of the staff .   We are pleased that Marie Melton will join us as Supervisory Cook on Tuesday 1st November .
We have been informed that funeral of Victor Dyball will take place at the Earlham Crematorium at 3pm on Monday 17th October . We will all miss Victor's presence at the day centre .
Members who use hearing aids please note that the NDA mobile van will be in the village hall car park from 1pm to 2.45pm on Tuesday 11th October
We need items to sell at the auction on 3rd November

Newsletter September/October 2016

We welcome new member Ray Walker who attends on Tuesdays.
At the Annual  General Meeting held on Tuesday 16th August 2016 it was announced that there was a small excess of income over expenditure during the financial year ending 31st March 2016. During the agenda item Any Other Business it was agreed that the  Bonus  Ball lottery prizes would be changed. The prize for holding the wining number would always be £25  The rollover would be stopped. Also discussed were the problems occurring at the end of the days session.  Members using the minibus are requested to wait in the main hall until asked to come to the minibus by a staff member. The presented accounts and minutes of the meeting are available. Betty Lambert who joined us as a temporary cook, on a trial basis, has said that she would  leave when we have obtained a replacement. Menu choice forms have been distributed for the outing to the Marsham Arms on the 29th September. The cost has been subsidised from a bequest in memory of a past member Dennis Buck.  We need items for the Auction on 3rd November

All members are invited to attend the Annual  General Meeting to be held at 11am on Tuesday 16th August 2016.  If you normally attend only on Thursdays but would like transport to attend the AGM please let us know.  Claire is unlikely to be able to return to work soon.  We have advertised for a temporary replacement in the EDP.  If you know of anyone who may be interested please inform us .
Norfolk Swift Response can help with urgent unplanned care needs and recover a person from a fall if they are uninjured.  The number to call is  0344800 8020  - Option 1.  For more information speak to the Chairman

We welcome new members Marjorie and George  Cooper who attend on Thursdays.  
It is with regret we note that Hazel Aldridge will no longer attend as a volunteer.  We would like to appoint a volunteer car driver on Thursdays to avoid having a second minibus trip.  
The scouts will replace the large door mat to protect the £1500 new carpet in the entrance hall.  Please take care whilst the present off cut is in use.

   We welcome new member Edna Mercer who attends on Tuesdays .We thank Hazel Aldridge for driving on Thursdays to avoid the second minibus trip.   We plan that the free Queen’s Birthday celebration lunches will take place in the large hall. The daycentre has purchased a Philips heart start automated defibrillator which will be kept in the First Aid room. The British Heart Foundation is giving a familiarisation course at the scout HQ on Saturday 4th June  I have been informed that Dennis Buck, a former member of the day centre, died on 8th May 2016 His funeral will be held at 11.45am at St Faiths crematorium on Wednesday 8th June .A donation is being made to the day centre Early notice that the day centre will be closed for the Summer break on Tuesday 26th July and Thursday 28th July  ​

May/June 2016 Newsletter

The present membership is Tuesday 32, Thursday 35 with 17 attending both days. Total membership 43.  At the present time we cannot take any more members on  Thursdays, we will set up a waiting list. Resulting from the number of members on Thursdays the minibus will need to make a second local pickup. To give staff time to collect money, entertainment will normally start  at 11.15am and lunch will be at  12.15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We are trying to appoint another car driver to avoid the minibus second trip.  The auction and coffee morning on the 26th April raised a total of £268.50 for the general fund.  We thank all those who donated items for sale,  made cakes, and those who bought items .

The present membership is Tuesday 33, Thursday 33 with 17 attending both days. total membership 43.We welcome new members Eric Boone who attends on Tuesdays  and Barbara Wilson.  The Easter raffle raised £54.50, we thank those who donated the prizes and those who generously bought tickets We have been informed that Beryl Durrant has had a heart attack, we hope she will be able to return to the centre soon. A reminder that on Friday 15th April  at the Scout HQ there is  a BOPP (Broadland Older Peoples Partnership)  Open meeting at the day centre  with the theme of Money Matters Advice, everyone is welcome to attend.   Menu choices for the outing to The Brick Kilns on Tuesday 19th April have been distributed. On Tuesday 26th of April we will hold another Open Coffee Morning with a Cake Sale and Auction.  Donations of items to sell are welcomed .
